Residents of Madison were grieved early Saturday morning, Sept 8, to hear of the death of Albion N. Clark who passed away at his home on Weston avenue on Friday evening, September 7. While Clark had been in failing health for several years he was about the farm Friday as usual but fell asleep early in the evening and never awoke.

Mr. Clark was born in Brighton, February 18, 1850, the son of John L. and Sophia Lombard Clark. At the age of 2 years the family moved to Cornville where they resided for eight years, and then moved to Bingham. After the death of his father which occurred during the Civil War, Mr. Clark made his home with his uncle, Charles Clark in Bingham until his marriage to Fannie G. Cooley of Bingham, which took place on March 26, 1876. To this union were born three sons, Perley A. who resides at the home on Weston avenue, Madison, Ralph Arthur of Bingham and Leland Almon who passed away in California about 2 years ago. Twenty years ago Mr. Clark moved to Madison and purchased a home on Weston avenue where he has since resided. Mr. Clark was a very successful farmer and for many years was a breeder of thoroughbred Hereford stock. For seven years he attended the large fairs of Maine and New Hampshire with his stock.

Mr. Clark was a member of the Bingham Free Will Baptist Church as long as that church was in existence, later attending the Congregational Church in Bingham. For over 40 years he was a member of the Grange at Bingham, later transferring to Kennebec Valley Grange. He took the 5th degree of Somerset Pomona, the 6th degree and was a member of the Maine State Grange. The 7th degree made him a member of the National Grange.

Mr. Clark was also a life member of the Maine State Fair Association at Lewiston. He was a kind, loving husband and father, a good neighbor and friend and a citizan much respected an honored by all who knew him or came in contact with him. While blessed with three children the Clark home has truly been a home to the homeless and those in trouble. None was ever turned away hungry or in need and many have reason to remember with love the kindness and hospitality shown them at the Clark home.

Mr. Clark is survived by the widow, two sons already mentioned, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one brother, Henry of Lowell, Mass. and one half sister, Mrs. Sarah Crawford of Albion.

The funeral services were held from the late home Monday, September 10th conducted by the Rev. E. C. Evans. Burial was in the family lot in Bingham where a committal serivce was conducted by Rev. Arthur Macdougall.

Former Bingham Man Dies

Albian N. Clark a highly respected citizen of Madison, died Friday at his home in Madison. Mr. Clark formerly lived in Bingham. He was born in Brighton, February 1850, the son of John and Sophia Lombard Clark. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Fanny Clark, and two sons, Perley of Madison and Arthur of Bingham. Funeral services were held from the home Monday afternoon, with Rev. Evans of the Congregational church of Madison officiating. The Grange, of whom he was a member, attended in a body. Burial was in the family lot in Bingham, where committal services were held with Rev. Arthur MacDougall officiating. The floral pieces were many and beautiful.
